SABEW NewsSABEW to hold 2010 conference in Phoenix The Society of American Business Editors and Writers board of directors voted unanimously this weekend to hold its 2010 annual conference in Phoenix at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The Cronkite School recently moved to a new building in downtown Phoenix that also houses the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism. "We're looking forward to meeting in the Cronkite School's first-class facility and working with our friends at the Reynolds Center on a terrific program," said Bernie Kohn, president of SABEW and an editor at the Baltimore Sun. "Our relationship with the Reynolds Center really began with a collaboration the last time we met in Phoenix, in 2002, and we're delighted to be able to build on that for the benefit of our members." A date for the 2010 conference has not been finalized, but it's expected to be in the spring.
"ASU's Cronkite School and the Reynolds Center are delighted and honored to host SABEW's 2010 annual conference in our new state-of-the-art journalism building in Phoenix," said Leckey (left). "The Reynolds Center shares with SABEW the serious goal of maintaining and improving the quality of the nation's business coverage in the ever-changing media landscape, which is why our cooperation works so well." The new Cronkite facility cost $71 million to build and includes 223,000 square feet of meeting space, classrooms, and offices. It's located in downtown Phoenix near major media outlets. The 2009 conference will be held in Denver on April 26 through April 28. It's being organized by Rocky Mountain News business editor Rob Reuteman.
