SABEW NewsAuction items highlight fall SABEW conference Fundraising fun continues at SABEW’s 2007 Fall Conference at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to the great sessions planned,
there are some terrific auction items available to those
attending the fall conference. And we’re offering a basket of Super Bowl swag. Who can beat seat cushions from Super Bowl XXXIX, emblazoned with the logo Ameriquest Mortgage? We’ve also got a great red Super Bowl Hat from Super Bowl XL -- the Super Bowl held in Detroit at Ford Field in 2006 -- and even more football goodies. We’ll also auction “Taken for a Ride” – an engaging business book written by Bill Vlasic and Bradley A. Stertz – which goes behind the scenes of the corporate drama that led up to DaimlerBenz buying the old Chrysler Corp. for $36 billion in 1998. There’s a special twist to this auction item. Vlasic – who has won several SABEW awards – has agreed to do a phone consultation about publishing or business writing for the winning bidder. We’ve got other items, including some SABEW Build-A-Bears and a cartoon by Detroit Free Press cartoonist Mike Thomspon and one by SunSentinel Editorial Cartoonist Chan Lowe that will be available as well. Those attending the auction will be able to bid on the items at the conference. We’ll take your contributions and let you pay by cash, check or credit card to SABEW. If you’re not attending the fall conference, ask a friend or board member to bid in your name – just be sure to give a limit. Some items at the spring conference generated bids of more than $500 for SABEW’s “Fund for the Future.” If you ask someone to bid for you, remember that the money – cash, check or credit card payment – must be received at the conference.
