News Archive2003 News: SABEW elects new board members SABEW elects new board members CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - The Society of American Business Editors and Writers elected eight new board members, including six to full three-year terms, at its 40th annual conference Monday. The organization's four new officers also began their duties with Monday's board meeting. They include: syndicated columnist Kathy Kristof, LA Times Columnist, as president; Fort Worth Star-Telegram Managing Editor for News Rex Seline as vice president; Jonathan Lansner, business columnist at The Orange County Register as secretary and treasurer; and Becky Bisbee, business editor at The Seattle Times, as editor of The Business Journalist. Elected to full three-year board terms Monday were: In addition, SABEW filled two board slots to replace members who resigned. MSN Money Managing Editor Charley Blaine was appointed to a one-year term and Craig Schwed, managing editor for business, technology and sports at Gannett News Service was appointed to a two-year term. Also Monday, SABEW presented distingiuished achievement awards to James K. Gentry, dean and professor at the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Kansas; and Randall D. Smith, assistant managing editor at The Kansas City Star.
